The Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, concluded her visit to Algeria by praising the "strategic importance" of a country in which she continues to see a "reliable partner", key in issues such as energy, in a display of political harmony that They have also wanted to make the local authorities clear.

The Algerian president, Abdelmayid Tebune, has stressed that Italy and Algeria are "two friendly countries", as Meloni's visit would demonstrate, "of special importance". The Prime Minister has chosen the North African country to debut in the region, 20 years after the signing of the friendship treaty that outlines bilateral relations.

"Algeria is the first Italian partner in Africa", defended Meloni, in an appearance before the media in which he recalled the recent signing of agreements to promote the exploitation and purchase of gas. He has also opted to continue strengthening ties in other areas, such as politics or culture, with the general objective of "building bridges".

The head of the Italian Government and the Algerian president have signed a joint declaration with which, according to Meloni, the "excellent" relations between the two countries are revealed, reports the public television channel Rai.

Italy also aspires to incorporate Algeria into other fronts, for example to help stabilize sources of tension such as Libya and Mali. Meloni has acknowledged that he is "concerned" by the "instability" in these areas and has taken the opportunity to defend the two-State solution for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
