Lukashenko offers to organize a meeting between Biden and Putin to negotiate peace in Ukraine

MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has assured this Thursday that he is prepared to organize a meeting between his American and Russian counterparts, Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin, respectively, to negotiate peace in Ukraine, on the eve of the imminent visit of the head of the White House to Poland.

"I am ready to meet with the president of the United States," Lukashenko stressed in a conversation with foreign journalists in Minsk, reports the Belarusian agency BelTA.

"Why Poland?" Asked the Belarusian president, who immediately offered Biden the chance to be received in Minsk to "have a serious conversation if he wants peace in Ukraine."

"Even Putin would fly to Minsk for this trilateral meeting: two 'aggressors' and the 'peace-loving' president. Why not?" Lukashenko ironically insisted that Biden be received in the Belarusian capital " for the sake of ending the war."

"If he wants to stop the war, we will receive him (...) We have international airports. His Air Force One can land here," said Lukashenko, recalling how former President Bill Clinton had already visited the country. "Here, in his presence, the three of us will sit down and solve the problem," he insisted.

However, Lukashenko has regretted that Biden is not going to accept his invitation, "although he should do it" if he really wants to end the war -which is about to be over a year old-, and on the contrary "he will stay in Poland".

"Poland is the hyena of Europe and plays the most active role in the escalation of the war in Ukraine. Poland makes even more noise than the United States, so I invite you to Minsk. We guarantee you full security, protection and comfort. And, what most importantly, you will not regret this visit", he has persisted.

Lukashenko has maintained his idea of the invitation throughout the meeting with the press, which he has asked to convey to Biden that if he does not accept, he will be telling the world that he does not want peace, even leaving the door open for the president to come. Ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelensky.

"I guarantee that I will persuade President Putin to fly to Minsk so that we can sit down and think about what can be done, or maybe, if Biden is willing, we will invite Zelensky too. (...) The Russians and I will guarantee a trip safe to Belarus. In 40 minutes it is here. From Kiev to Minsk," Lukashenko said.
