KFOR investigates an armed "incident" near one of its patrols on Christmas Day

The United Nations mission in Kosovo (KFOR) reported on Monday the launch of an investigation into an armed "incident" that occurred on Christmas Day in an area very close to one of its patrols on European territory.

As reported by KFOR in a publication on its Facebook channel, "armed unknown persons" participated in the incident, which occurred in the Kosovar city of Zubin Potok, although there were no injuries or material damage to be regretted.

"We are working to establish all the facts. Since meetings between all parties are planned, it is important that all those involved avoid any rhetoric or action that could cause tensions and aggravate the situation," the NATO mission stressed.

Along these lines, the agency has asked all parties and actors to refrain from carrying out "shows of force" that could be considered a provocation and to focus on finding solutions to "guarantee the security of all communities."

Thus, KFOR has once again insisted that the best way to resolve the situation is through dialogue, which the mission Command is in charge of supporting and facilitating.

The Kosovar territory, the scene of constant tensions with Serbia, is experiencing a worsening of its historic crisis and which led to Belgrade requesting NATO two weeks ago to deploy Serbian security personnel, an unprecedented request to date.
