Estonia will deliver its largest military aid package to Ukraine since the start of the war

MADRID, 19 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Estonian government has reported this Thursday that it will deliver a package of 113 million euros in aid, the largest supply of military assistance to Ukraine since the Russian invasion of the territory began almost a year ago.

The Defense Minister, Hanno Pevkur, has indicated in a statement that the military aid proposal for Ukraine includes weapons and ammunition valued at that amount, therefore the assistance provided to the country increases to 370 million euros.

Despite the fact that these supplies are in warehouses used by the Estonian Armed Forces, the Government has assured that this will not diminish the country's abilities to defend itself since these weapons will be replaced in the future.

"We Estonians know from painful history what happens when evil wins and a big country eats a small one. If Ukraine falls, freedom in other parts of the world will be at risk. By helping them protect their independence we protect the right of all countries to freedom and democracy," he asserted.

In this sense, the authorities have qualified that it is "necessary to continue delivering weapons to Ukraine." "With today's action, we are sending weapons that Ukraine needs at a time of vital importance," he added.

"The Ukrainian Army has been able to skillfully use our weapons systems. We want the war to end, but Russia has sent clear signals that it plans to go ahead with this. That is why the free world must continue to supply weapons to Ukraine," has pointed out.
