Bolsonaro affirms that his mission in Brazil "has not finished" and that he will return to the country this month

MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has given it to be understood this Saturday that he has plans to return to politics after affirming that his mission in the country "has not finished", confirming in turn his plans to return to Brazil this March,

"At this moment, I thank God for my second life and also for the mission of being president of Brazil for a period (...) But deep down I feel that this mission has not ended," the former president asserted during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

Bolsonaro, who has been invited to the event by former US President Donald Trump, has received a warm welcome from US conservatives gathered in Maryland as he began to speak at the conference, Bloomberg reported.

"They keep saying: 'Science, science, science.'

Like Trump, who claims the 2020 presidential election was rigged and stolen, Bolsonaro has maintained that he had "much more support" in his re-election bid than when he first ran and does not understand "why the numbers reflect otherwise".

Meanwhile, the former Brazilian president has confessed in an interview with NBC News that he plans to return to Brazil this month, where he is investigating whether he played any role in inciting his supporters to storm the headquarters of Brazil's three powers after his failed re-election bid.

Bolsonaro has been in the United States since the end of December, specifically in Orlando, where he has remained while Brazilian prosecutors point to his involvement in the assault on the Brazilian government headquarters.
