The Prosecutor's Office asks the 'Tándem' judge to summon Villarejo and his partner again for Iberdrola's orders

MADRID, 24 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Prosecutor's Office has asked the judge of the National Court instructing the 'Tándem' macro-cause to cite the now retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and his partner Rafael Redondo in the piece in which he investigates the illegal orders that Iberdrola would have allegedly made to the Villarejo himself.

Legal sources have explained to Europa Press that the Public Ministry has also requested the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 6, Manuel García Castellón, to extend the investigation for another two months to carry out these proceedings.

This movement is part of the separate piece number 17 of 'Tándem', where the judge investigates the alleged illegal orders that the company would have made to Villarejo since 2004 and for which he would have pocketed more than one million euros.

It should be remembered that the instructor pointed out in the order by which he extended the investigation that, after "refining" the case, only the commissioner himself, Rafael Redondo himself and the former head of Iberdrola Security Antonio Asenjo remain accused.

In this piece, the Criminal Chamber of the National Court has confirmed the file for some of the directors of the energy company that was decreed by the magistrate considering that the facts that were imputed to him would have prescribed.

This was the case, among others, of the president of the company, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, for whom the piece was permanently archived last October. The magistrates of the Third Section explained that the prescription period for the crime of bribery is 10 years, a period that would have already ended in June 2021, when the judge charged Sánchez Galán. And it is that, they added then, the events for which he was cited occurred between 2004 and 2009.
