The Lawyers see "incomprehensible" that Justice and the lawyers did not reach an agreement to end the strike

He says that the country cannot afford "the enormous damage that the strike is generating"

MADRID, 17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The General Council of Lawyers, representing the Bar Associations throughout Spain, has assured that it sees the "significant lack of progress" in the meeting that took place last night --for more than 15 hours-- between the Ministry of Justice and the strike committee of the Administration Lawyers (LAJ) and that ended without an agreement to put an end to the indefinite strike that began on January 24.

"That after 15 hours of meeting the positions are further away than when the dialogue began is very worrying, since it represents a step backwards in the resolution of a conflict that is seriously harming the functioning of the courts and tribunals throughout Spain", The lawyer has indicated in a statement issued this Friday.

The General Council has stressed that the country cannot afford "the enormous damage that the strike is causing by seriously paralyzing or delaying the normal functioning of the judicial system, which protects and protects their rights and freedoms." According to the calculations managed by the LAJ strike committee, since the strike began, activity in the courts and courts has been reduced by 60%, with 152,000 suspended views and 560 million euros that have been blocked.

From the Lawyers they have stressed that this conflict "seriously conditions the daily life of some vulnerable groups, as is the case of alimony payments from judicial accounts to families with no other income, among others." And they have recalled that "a democratic state with paralyzed Justice loses one of the fundamental pillars that sustain it."

Within the framework of the statement, he insisted that, "respecting the exercise of the right to strike, all possible efforts must be made by the LAJs and the Ministry to avoid additional disturbances to citizens and professionals."

"The minimum services must be scrupulously complied with, as well as fruitless appearances, when suspensions are foreseeable," they added.

Thus, they have called for responsibility and have demanded "an urgent negotiation calendar that allows a satisfactory agreement to be reached through dialogue."
