The associations of judges celebrate the agreement of the CGPJ for the renewal of the TC and praise the profile of those elected

MADRID, 27 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Professional Association of the Magistracy (APM), Judges for Democracy (JJpD) and the Association of Judges Francisco de Vitoria (AJFV) have celebrated this Tuesday the agreement of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to elect their two candidates to enter the Constitutional Court (TC) and have praised the professional profile of both César Tolosa and María Luisa Segoviano.

The member of the APM Juan José Carbonero has indicated in statements to Europa Press that with this unanimous agreement of the progressive and conservative wings of the CGPJ "complies with what the law says" on the renewal of the guarantee court.

In addition, he has indicated that we must be in luck with the names chosen, "two profiles of important specific weight" that have a background and an important trajectory in the fields from which they come, the Contentious-Administrative and the Social.

From JJpD, Edmundo Rodríguez told Europa Press that it is good news that the renewal of the TC has been normalized "and that it has been done with four jurists who represent the plurality of society."

It has also focused on the fact that two of the four names that will be studied by the TC for their suitability are women, Laura Díez and María Luisa Segoviano. "It is necessary to guarantee a certain equality in the domes," she added.

In addition, he has hoped that the King's call for the normalization of the institutions will spread, and serve as an example "for those who give excuses for the CGPJ not to be renewed", with its mandate expired since 2018.

For his part, from the AJFV, Jorge Fernández Vaquero has indicated that the agreement is "good news" because this will allow the TC to function normally. In addition, he stressed that this news "allows us to harbor a minimal hope that this institutional deterioration that we are experiencing will be reversed."

Like the rest, from the AJFV they celebrate that "people with a very marked professional profile and in whom the assessment of their qualifications prevails over any type of political link that they want to establish" has been chosen.

"This is very necessary taking into account how the last appointments of the TC were made, in which other aspects prevailed," he noted.
