The Seventh Section of the Provincial Court of Cádiz, based in Algeciras, has reduced the prison sentence by two years for a man convicted of a crime of sexual assault for raping a minor under seven years of age. Thus, after appealing based on the 'only yes is yes' law, the sentence of 12 years and one month in prison has been reduced to ten years and one month, according to judicial sources confirmed to Europa Press.

The events occurred in 2015, as recalled by Europa Sur, which has indicated that the order reducing the sentence includes that "it is appropriate to agree to the review of the sentence of the prisoner, because in accordance with the current Penal Code, and taking into account note that the thirteenth legal foundation of the sentence expressly established that it was appropriate to impose the minimum sentence within the applicable punitive framework, increased only by one month, it would be appropriate to set as the duration of the prison sentence that of ten years and one month and not the of 12 years and one month, as established by the already repealed regulations".

The man was accused of a crime of sexual assault on the niece of his then partner. The events occurred in Algeciras, when the man called the girl, who was playing in front of the condemned man's home, and brought her into the house, where he covered her mouth so that she would not scream and committed the assault, according to the proven facts. .
