Ainia and Cajamar analyze new digital technologies and their application to agricultural tasks in a day

The Food Technology Institute, Ainia, and the Cajamar cooperative group will hold a day to analyze new digital technologies and their application to agricultural tasks. The meeting will take place on October 17 at 9:00 a.m. at the Cajamar Experience Center in Paiporta (Valencia), as reported by both entities in a statement.

The conference, in person and free, will be held under the title 'Digital Transformation in Agriculture' with the objective of "reviewing new digital technologies and their application in agricultural tasks" and with the aim of "improving the profitability of farms agricultural".

Companies and reference centers will participate in this meeting and will show the latest developments in digital applications and services, and will share the challenges of Valencian agriculture and the evolution of the market, the same sources have added. Likewise, demonstrations will be exhibited to show the latest advances and technological innovations for application in the agricultural sector.

The day will have a first block, titled 'Sensors, IoT and Robotics in the field', in which the commercial director of IKOS TECH, José Miguel Castellano, will speak, who will talk about sensorization platforms; the director of Ainia's Digital Transformation unit, Ricardo Díaz, who will address the applications of drones and mobile robotics and the managing director of Pulverizadores FEDE, Fede Pérez, who will explain the intelligent application of phytosanitary treatments.

Next, there will be a round table moderated by the head of Strategic Business Development and Alliances at Ainia, David Martínez.

After that, a second block will begin, titled 'Artificial Intelligence and cloud computing', which will feature presentations by the director of Plataforma Tierra, Alejandro Blaas, 'Plataforma Tierra: tools and digital notebook'; by the head of Information and Communications Technology projects at Ainia, César Asensio, 'Predictive models through AI'; from the commercial director of Visual Nacert, Mari Luz Peñarrubia, 'Digital tools for crop management.

They will be joined by the CEO of Greenfield Technologies, Miguel Córdoba, who will discuss satellite remote sensing. All of them will participate in a round table moderated by Carlos Baixaulí, director of the Cajamar Experience Center.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) indicates that in 2022 plant production has increased by 4.2% in Spain to reach 36,459 million euros, according to the same sources. However, they have highlighted that "agrarian income has decreased by 5.5% as a consequence of the war in Ukraine and climatic adversities", something that "has caused the price of fruits to rise by 11.4% and to be harvested 19% less than the previous year."

Likewise, they have commented that "in the current context of rising prices of raw materials such as fertilizers and phytosanitary products, with the cost of energy on the rise, with the effects of climate change with an acute period of drought and water scarcity, and with the difficulty in finding qualified labor, agriculture is becoming a resilient activity.

In the case of the Valencian Community, they have pointed out that "its unique territory, with woody crops and its large irrigated areas, requires optimizing processes to make more efficient use of resources, as well as making decisions that improve production and reduce waste throughout the chain.
