Zelensky assures that the Ukrainian Army is advancing "rapidly" against Russian troops in the south

MADRID, 5 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, announced "good news" for the country on Tuesday, after assuring that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are advancing "rapidly" against Russian troops in the southern regions.

"The Ukrainian Army is making a fairly rapid and powerful advance in the south of our country as part of the current defense operation," he celebrated in the daily video in which Zelensky addresses the nation.

"Dozens of territories have already been liberated from the fake Russian referendum this week alone: in the region of Jerson, Kharkov, Lugansk and Donetsk," the Ukrainian president has claimed.

Thus, Zelensky has listed a number of municipalities that have been "liberated from the occupier and stabilized," according to military reports. "This is far from a complete list", he has warned, after describing the situation as an "army success".

"Our combatants do not stop, so it is a matter of time before we expel the occupier from all our lands," he assured.

Zelenski has explained the conversations that he had this Tuesday with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi; later, with the leader of the Brothers of Italy political party and winner of the recent elections, Giorgia Meloni; and, finally, with the president of the United States, Joe Biden.

In calls with the aforementioned political leaders, he has discussed his "view of Russia's recent escalation steps." Furthermore, he has welcomed the military aid packages he has received from both Rome and Washington.

"The successes of our armed forces, all the successes in returning freedom to our people, are our joint successes, our joint victories," he said, referring to the military and financial material provided to kyiv by partners and allies.

In addition, Zelensky has again criticized Russia's movements, after signing a decree on Tuesday that declares "null and invalid all decrees of the Russian president" to implement the "annexation of our territory from 2014 to today."

"It is the Kremlin that is doing absolutely everything so that this war ends only on the battlefield, not at the negotiating table," he denounced.
