Vox denounces "harassment" of the PSOE to the TC and demands that its magistrates defend the law and "put aside the calculations"

MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Vox has denounced this Monday "harassment, coercion, blackmail and threats" by the PSOE and the Government to the Constitutional Court and has demanded that its members make their decisions defending legality, leaving aside "calculations and numbers" and thinking that "they are guaranteeing democracy and the rule of law are threatened".

At a press conference, the vice president of Vox Jorge Buxadé has accused the Socialists of trying to "influence" the resolution that the Constitutional Court must take regarding the parliamentary processing of two amendments that reform the system of election and arrival to the TC of the two candidates that corresponds to appoint the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

Buxadé has made reference both to a message from the PSOE warning of unpredictable consequences if the processing of the law is paralyzed, and to another from former Vice President Carmen Calvo regarding the supremacy of the sovereignty of the people over all the powers of the State. "It is a direct threat to democracy in Spain," she denounced.

In this sense, he has stressed that the rule of law is subject above all "to the rule of law" and has warned that parliamentary majorities "cannot impose mere voting to subdue minorities", and even less if They are "fraudulent and illegitimate" majorities like those that in his opinion the Government adds up with its parliamentary partners.

With this, Buxadé has transferred his "full respect and support" to the Constitutional Court and the CGPJ. "To which we simply demand that they defend legality, that they defend the legal system, that they put aside the calculations, the numbers and think that they are guaranteeing democracy and the threatened rule of law", he stressed.

But in addition, he recalled that in October 2017 the Constitutional Court already suspended the Plenary Session of the Parliament of Catalonia to prevent the unilateral declaration of independence. And now, he has denounced, there is "a clear strategy" to recover all the mechanisms that precisely prevented the success of that "coup d'état."

In addition, he has denounced a second strategy to "undermine the authority" of the Constitutional Court, breaking the principle of "institutional loyalty." "If they are not loyal to Spain, how are they going to be loyal to State institutions," he acknowledged, pointing to the PSOE and Unidas Podemos.

"This is a joke," Buxadé has come to accept, also pointing out that the current situation is the consequence of "decades" of politicization of the judicial bodies. "When you sit down with a trickster, he ends up bogged down", he has warned without wanting to delve into the criticism of the Popular Party.
