Vox and independentistas are deleted from the institutional act of Congress on Constitution Day

MADRID, 4 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Vox parliamentary group will not send any representation this time to the institutional act for Constitution Day that is celebrated every December 6 in Congress, thus joining the pro-independence and nationalist formations that maintain their tradition of absenting themselves from this event that State institutions are invited.

Thus, on Tuesday there will be no representation of the main partners of the Government: Esquerra Republicana (ERC), the PNV and EH-Bildu. Neither will Junts, the PDeCaT, the CUP, Compromís or the Galician Nationalist Bloc (BNG), confirmed to Europa Press in sources from these parties.

In recent years, ERC, PNV, Bildu and Junts had already been low in this tribute and in 2019 the CUP joined the 'plant', which premiered in Congress after the last general elections, and the BNG, which returned to the Lower House after several years without representation.

In the past, both the old Convergence and the PNV came to send some type of institutional representation to this ceremony, especially in the legislatures in which they had a position on the Tables of Congress or the Senate.

On the contrary, this year another of the usual partners of the Government has confirmed attendance, Más País Verdes Equo, which will be represented by its deputy for Madrid, Inés Sabanés.

There will also be representatives from the groups of the PSOE, PP -whose president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will attend for the first time as opposition leader-, Ciudadanos and Unidas Podemos, and the presence of various representatives of the Mixed Group, the which, in addition to the CUP, are also members of the Canary Islands Coalition, Navarra Suma, the Regionalist Party of Cantabria, Foro Asturias and Teruel Existe.

On his side, Vox, which last year was represented by Macarena Olona, now out of the party, has already announced that he does not intend to participate this year. Its leader, Santiago Abascal, who has never attended what he considers "a mockery" and a "comic show" of the "progressive consensus", has made it clear that they will not join "parties" with those who "violate and seek to destroy" the Magna Carta.

This year's act will have a novelty, since the traditional act of hoisting the Spanish flag that was held annually in the Plaza de Colón in Madrid, will be held this time in front of the Congress façade and the presidents of the Lower House, Meritxell Batet, and from the Senate, Ander Gil, will be the ones to review the troops in a brief military parade.

Members of the Bureaus of both Chambers and Spokesmen of the parliamentary groups, as well as military authorities, will also be present.

Then, starting at 12:30 p.m., the institutional act organized by the Cortes will begin, which will once again take place abroad, in front of the Lions gate, as has been done since the pandemic.

Batet will deliver his speech on the steps of the Puerta de los Leones, accompanied by Ander Gil -who will make his debut on this occasion as president of the Senate since last year he was unable to attend due to being infected with Covid- and by the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the representatives of the high institutions of the State.

The act is invited to the act representatives of State institutions and the autonomous communities, as well as deputies and senators, former presidents of the Government and of the Chambers, constitutional speakers and a representation of social agents and civil society.

Once the institutional act is over, the authorities and guests will enter the palace and go to the Conference Room, known as the Lost Steps Room, where a reception will take place.
