UP would support that Catalonia continue to form part of Spain although with greater self-government in an eventual referendum

MADRID, 27 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesman for Unidas Podemos in Congress, Pablo Echenique, has transferred this Tuesday that his formation would support that Catalonia continue to be part of Spain in the event that a possible referendum is held, although he has specified that "perhaps" with a greater quota of self-government.

"We have always stated that we support the right to decide and, in a possible consultation, we would propose that Catalonia continue to be part of Spain, perhaps with a greater share of self-government," he pointed out in an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press.

This is how the Podemos deputy expressed himself after the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, pronounced in the Christmas institutional message that this 2023 "has to be the year to give shape to the Catalan proposal of the Clarity Agreement" and that it is time to reopen the path towards self-determination for Catalonia.

Echenique has pointed out that the positions of all the parties are known to the public and that Podemos, specifically, "has what it has always had", at the same time that he has insisted that they support the right to decide.
