UP reiterates its criticism of the election of Campo for the TC but reduces tension with the PSOE: They are not going to break the Government

"We cannot afford to break the coalition government, the people would not forgive us," Jaume Asens asserted.

MADRID, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Unidas Podemos has reiterated that they did not like the PSOE's 'modus operandi' in the election of former minister Juan Carlos Campo for the Constitutional Court, but they will abide by it, and they have reduced tension with their partner as a result of the blockade of key laws for the confederal space , by ensuring that the Government is not going to break despite these differences.

After yesterday's criticism of the Socialists, appreciating the "electoral calculation" of the PSOE in the blocking of regulations such as the Trans Law or the Families Law, the president of the United Podemos parliamentary group, Jaume Asens, has claimed that they have much more in common, despite the differences and agree on the fundamentals.

"We cannot afford to break the coalition government, the people would not forgive us, the people need certainty", he pointed out in statements to RNE, collected by Europa Press, to add that the coalition Executive is "strong and stable". who are clear that the priority is to carry out "brave" social measures and that this cohesion is fundamental and must be valued, beyond the discrepancies.

While and in statements in the halls of Congress, the parliamentary spokesman for the coalition's minority partner, Pablo Echenique, has said that the current government is an achievement of the "pensioner, feminist, right to housing and United We Can, that they are the ones who "have fought the most" for their conformation. Therefore, he has insisted that they will continue working for the coalition Executive.

On the other hand, Asens has referred to the controversy over the appointment of Campo and has reaffirmed that Unidas Podemos was informed by the "socialist wing" of "faits accomplis", but they did not participate in the deliberation nor could they comment or decide on the suitability of the profiles for the guarantee court.

After stressing that it was a necessary step to formalize the appointments, to comply with the law that enables the express renewal of the TC, the leader of En Comú Podem has reproached the Socialists for having left them "out" of this process and have deployed a decision " unilateral".

And for this, it has confronted what happened in the failed negotiation to renew the General Council of the Judiciary, where the two wings of the Government had open channels to discuss the candidates to be part of the Judiciary.

In this way, Asens has confessed that they were surprised by the election of Campo when the profile of the Government delegate against gender violence, Victoria Rosell, was rejected for the CGPJ, under the allegation that she had had "political responsibilities".

"It seemed contradictory to us to say one thing for the CGPJ, which is a political body that does not issue sentences, and another for the TC, which is a special court," the leader of the confederal space has settled.
