The income of real estate consultants and agencies stood at 7,800 million euros in 2021, which represented an increase of 41.8% compared to the previous year, in which turnover had fallen by 14.4%, according to the Sectorial Observatory DBK Informs.

Specifically, he highlighted the boost experienced by this sector thanks to the dynamism in investment in the real estate market, with special mention of the good performance of the residential, logistics and office areas.

By sector, real estate agencies had a turnover of 7,400 million euros, standing 43.1% above the figure reached in 2020. For its part, the business of companies with a real estate consultancy profile amounted to 400 million euros. euros, registering an increase of 21.2%.

With regard to free home transactions, 650,000 operations were registered in 2021, which represents an increase of 39.1% compared to the year 2020. In terms of value, free home transactions generated close to 115,000 million euros, 47.8% more.

Investment in the non-residential real estate market also experienced an upward trend in 2021 thanks to the dynamism of domestic and foreign investors, in a context of high liquidity and low interest rates.

Regarding the number of companies, in 2021 there were 56,700 companies with real estate activities on behalf of third parties, a figure that was slightly below that registered a year earlier. Likewise, the number of agencies approached 63,900, 0.1% less than in January 2020.

The business structure is characterized by the majority presence of small-sized companies, with 97% having a workforce of less than six employees. In the field of companies with a greater specialization in real estate consultancy, a greater average size of the operators can be seen, as well as the presence of subsidiaries of foreign groups.

The sector expects to maintain the upward trend in its revenues in the coming year, although in the short term a moderation in the growth rate is expected due to the deterioration of the national and international situation, and the upward trend in interest rates.
