The Supreme confirms the conviction of Chaves and Griñán for the 'ERE case'

The Supreme Court (TS) has confirmed the conviction of the former presidents of the Junta de Andalucía Manuel Chaves and José Antonio Griñán for the 'ERE case'.

The Provincial Court of Seville sentenced Griñán for a continued crime of prevarication to 10 years of disqualification from employment or public office and in medial contest with a continued crime of embezzlement, to 6 years in prison and absolute disqualification for a period of 20 years. In the case of Chaves, his sentence was 10 years of disqualification from employment or public office for a continued crime of prevarication.

This was announced this Tuesday by the high court, although the ruling issued by the magistrates Juan Ramón Berdugo (president), Ana Ferrer García, Susana Polo, Carmen Lamela and Eduardo de Porres (speaker) will be known in the coming days.

Ferrer and Polo have announced a dissenting opinion where they state that the appeals filed by Griñán, Miguel Ángel Serrano, Jesús María Rodríguez, Francisco Vallejo and Carmen Martínez should have been partially upheld, in the sense of having been acquitted for the continuing crime of embezzlement of public flows.
