The State lawyer denounces a theft of documentation during the trial of Villarejo for the CNI recording

The abduction occurred during one of the days of the hearing in which the commissioner was acquitted

MADRID, 20 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The State lawyer, Rosa María Seoane, who brought the accusation against the retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo in the case of recording an Internal Affairs meeting with the CNI, has denounced that her private vehicle was robbed with force during the holding the trial, the result of which devices containing documentation of that cause were stolen.

This is stated in a letter dated November 11, 2022 from the State Attorney's Office addressed to the Seventh Section of the Provincial Court of Madrid, to which Europa Press has had access, in which it is noted that specifically they stole his official laptop and an external electronic storage device.

It indicates that the robbery took place on November 8, after one of the days of this trial, in which Villarejo was finally acquitted of the crimes of discovery and disclosure of secrets attributed to him by the Prosecutor for allegedly having ordered recording and publish a meeting between agents of the National Police and the National Intelligence Center (CNI) regarding the investigation into Francisco Nicolás Gómez Iglesias, better known as 'El Pequeño Nicolás'.

Seoane highlights in the letter that both stolen devices had been used by her during the trial session and contained information and documentation of the case --scanned volumes-- that she kept for professional use. She warns that they could contain personal data, so she brings it to the attention of the court in case she should warn the parties.

It also adds that the facts have been brought to the attention of the Police by filing the corresponding complaint.

It should be remembered that the court decided to acquit the retired commissioner, having not found throughout the trial a probative basis in the Prosecutor's argument and, instead, a lack of logical coherence in the story proposed by the Public Ministry that prevents them from condemn the commissioner.

In the sentence, to which Europa Press has had access, the Madrid Court also acquitted the commissioner's wife, Gemma Alcalá, and the journalist Carlos Mier of the crimes of discovery and disclosure of secrets.

The court has explained that the facts denounced by the Prosecutor's Office have not been considered proven because they have not been able to clarify the doubts about how the CNI recording was made, which was published on the 'Sensitive Information' portal, of which Villarejo was a shareholder and his wife directive.

The only thing that has been clear to the magistrates is that said meeting took place, that someone recorded its content and that it was subsequently published. But they have not obtained sufficient evidence to attribute the facts to any of the defendants.

Thus, the ex-Commander of the Police gets rid of the request for 4 years in jail from the Prosecutor's Office. The commissioner, for the moment, is pending the sentence of the National Court regarding three pieces --'Iron', 'Land' and 'Painter'--, in which he faces a request for 83 years in prison for allegedly use police means for their private clients.
