The PSOE fails to advance the debate on its reform of the 'only yes is yes' law and it will be on March 7

MADRID, 14 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSOE has not obtained support in the Board of Spokespersons of Congress to debate in plenary session next week its reform of the 'only yes is yes' Law, with which it will already be debated on March 7, the eve of the demonstration of Women's Day, which is the date that the socialist spokesman, Patxi López, has pointed out.

The bill has been qualified without problems by the Congress Table and the urgent processing requested by the Socialist Group has been applied, which will mean reducing all the deadlines for amendments by half. There has been no need for voting since there are two formal procedures.

Once qualified, the Board has ordered the publication of the initiative in the Official Gazette of the Cortes and the text has been sent to the Government for its approval, since the Executive has the power to veto legislative initiatives that it considers to be against their budgetary autonomy, either due to excess spending or decreased income.

The next step is to set a date for their debate, and in the Board of Spokespersons the PSOE has proposed that it be next week, but since it is neither published nor yet has the approval of the Government, it needed a unanimous agreement from all the groups, and has not succeeded.

ERC, which had already warned that it was not going to support any reform without an agreement with the Ministry of Equality, has been the first to oppose it and there has been no need to establish more positions. According to Patxi López, another group also expressed their disagreement, but has not revealed it.
