The PSOE announces the definitive proclamation of Carolina Darias as a candidate for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, 3 Dec. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Insular Ethics Commission of the PSOE of Gran Canaria has announced the definitive proclamation of Carolina Darias as a candidate for mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

In a statement, the party has indicated that this announcement occurs once the established period has elapsed and without any appeal having been filed, as stated in article 140 of the Federal Regulations for the Development of the Statutes.

Darias announced on November 19 her intention to run in the primary process as a candidate for mayor of the island's capital, where she began her political career as a councilor in 1999.

"I want to thank the PSOE, the militancy and especially my colleagues from the Juan Rodríguez Doreste Socialist Association, for the confidence they have given me to lead the list for the Mayor's Office of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria", said the current Minister of Healing after knowing its proclamation.

For her part, born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1965, Darias has a Law Degree from the University of La Laguna.

In her political career, in addition to being Minister of Health, she has also led the Territorial Policy and Public Function portfolio (2020-January 2021), was Minister of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands (2019-2020), president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands (2015-2019), counselor of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria (2011-2015), delegate of the Government in the Canary Islands (2008-2011), deputy in the Parliament of the Canary Islands (2007-2008), sub-delegate of the Government in the province of Las Palmas (2004-2007) and councilor of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (1999-2004).
