The PSOE accuses the PP of wanting to "destroy" democracy by following an "ultra-right" strategy

MADRID, 16 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSOE spokesman in Congress, Patxi López, affirmed this Friday that the PP is "determined" not to recognize the legitimacy of the coalition government and the majority in Parliament, while affirming that "it is in the hands" of "a strategy" of the extreme right that "destroys" the democratic system.

The words of the socialist spokesman come after the Constitutional Court (TC) met on Thursday in an extraordinary way to discuss the appeals of PP and Vox to the law that suppresses the crime of sedition, reforms that of embezzlement modifies the choice of the two magistrates of the guarantee court that corresponds to appoint the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), before the legislation was voted in Congress. Finally, the TC postponed its decision until Monday and the law was approved in the Lower House.

For the socialist spokesman, what happened with the TC is "evidence" that "the right of this country, the political, the economic, the media and the judiciary, are determined not to recognize the legitimacy of the Government and Parliament". Along these lines, he has also pointed out that "the right is in the hands of a strategy of the extreme right that destroys the democratic system itself."

López has insisted on his criticism of the plenary session of the TC on Thursday, stressing that if the court paralyzed the law it would "prevent" Parliament "from doing its job, which is to legislate." "Not letting us legislate would be tremendous," he warned, stressing that it would be "serious" and "radically undemocratic."
