The presidents of Renfe and Adif travel to Mérida to solve the ongoing problems on the new line

MADRID, 22 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Renfe, Isaías Táboas, and the president of Adif, María Luisa Domínguez, will travel to Mérida this Friday to meet with the Extremadura government and attend to the media after the continuous incidents that are taking place in the new service that connects the capital with the region.

This same Friday, according to operator sources consulted by Europa Press, the Alvia train has registered another delay of thirty minutes due to a specific problem on the train and a breakdown in the infrastructure.

This incident is added to that of Wednesday of more than an hour of delay, to that of Thursday of 70 minutes and to that of the day of the commercial premiere, which in its first section between Badajoz and Mérida already accumulated a delay of more than 15 minutes.

On Wednesday, Renfe dismissed the manager of Production of Commercial Services of the Madrid-Extremadura line after these problems in the Alvia, which also occurred in the Intercity train that connects the capital with the Extremaduran community.

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the department on which these two public companies depend, Raquel Sánchez, apologized yesterday and met with her top managers to try to find a solution to this problem.

"It must be said that certain incidents are normal in the first days of a commissioning, but I understand that this situation is not admissible and we are working to reverse it as soon as possible. The service that is being offered is neither what was expected nor what the users deserve," Sánchez said.
