MADRID, 25 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

A total of 1,366 companies have moved their headquarters to another autonomous community during the first quarter of 2022, 14% less than in the same period the previous year, according to the 'Study on Changes of Address' published by Informa D

However, this figure is 21% higher than that recorded in the last quarter of 2021. Thus, while in the first two quarters of 2021 more than 1,500 companies moved territory, in the second half of the year , just over 1,000 companies moved their headquarters.

"The 1,366 transfers of companies in the first quarter do not reach the figures with which 2021 began, but they are above the last two quarters of that year," said the Director of Studies at Informa D

Madrid has added a total of 88 companies for these movements during the first three months of the year, being the community that wins the most companies. They are followed by Valencia, which wins 22 companies, the Basque Country (11) and Aragón (10).

By origin, 16% of the companies that arrive in Madrid had their headquarters in Andalusia and 23% in Catalonia. In the opposite direction, of the Madrid companies that left the region, 26% moved to Catalonia and 17% to Andalusia.

On the other hand, Navarra lost 46 companies, being the community with the largest negative balance between entries and exits. It was followed by Catalonia, which "normally leads these data", but in the first quarter it lost 32 companies, Castilla y León (27 companies) and La Rioja (11).

Of the 57 companies that left Navarra in the first quarter of the year, 35% went to the Basque Country and 29% moved to Madrid.

In addition, only four autonomies maintain positive balances compared to the first quarter of 2021: Madrid, the Balearic Islands, Asturias and Aragón. Meanwhile, Cantabria, Extremadura and Galicia go from winning companies by moving their headquarters to losing them.

Regarding the turnover of companies that relocate their registered office, Madrid is the region that earns the most, adding 409 million euros. It is followed by the Basque Country, which adds 153 million euros and Valencia, which earns 58 million euros in turnover.

More than half of the new turnover that Madrid added comes from the pharmaceutical company Viatris, which contributes a figure of 220 million euros, being the company with the highest income that changed its address in the first quarter.

Of the ten companies with the highest turnover that moved their registered office in the first months of the year, 50% had Madrid as their destination. These ten companies added sales close to 1,000 million euros.
