The Moroccan detained for the deadly attack in Algeciras remains at the disposal of the AN to be questioned by the judge

MADRID, 30 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The man arrested in Algeciras for murdering a sacristan with a large machete and leaving several injured has been at the disposal of the National Court since Monday morning, where he will be questioned by Judge Joaquín Gadea, police sources have confirmed to Europa Press .

Yassin K, a 25-year-old Moroccan, was transferred under police custody to Madrid late Thursday and has been available to anti-terrorism specialists at the Canillas Complex headquarters since Friday.

The General Information Commissioner of the Police has already sent its reports to the judge, who will have to decide on his possible imprisonment. The transfer to the National Court dependencies took place around 9:00 am on Monday.

To authorize the search, the judge pointed out on Wednesday that it could be about jihadist Salafism. The Police found jihadist propaganda in the substandard housing in Algeciras where the man under investigation for murdering the sacristan and injuring several people in churches in Algeciras resided.

The investigation also collects his positions on social networks and analyzes a possible recent radicalization of Yassine K, according to sources from the fight against terrorism. It is also investigated that the detainee has a history in Morocco due to mental health problems.

Among the seized effects is the sheath of the machete that he used to murder a sacristan and injure four other people, including a priest, in a criminal action that he carried out alone, without the involvement of third parties.

From Algeciras, the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, assured on Thursday that Yassin K was not "on any radar for radicalization in Spain or in any other friendly country", stressing that the facts are being investigated for the crime of terrorism but that " All hypotheses remain open.

Before the press conference, the Ministry of the Interior also confirmed that the man arrested for the attack on two churches in Algeciras had no criminal record, but did have an expulsion file for his irregular situation in Spain since June 2022. The expulsion was notified in November, two months before he committed his criminal action, and was pending the bureaucratic process with Morocco to be carried out.
