The Government freezes for the third consecutive year the budget of the Royal House, which will have 8.43 million

MADRID, 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

King Felipe VI and the Royal House will have a budget of just over 8.43 million euros in 2023, the same amount that the Government allocated to them in the General State Budgets (PGE) this year and the previous one. In other words, Zarzuela will celebrate three consecutive years with its accounts frozen, just the three budget projects designed by the coalition government of PSOE and United We Can.

In addition, the item reserved for the Casa del Rey is the only one that does not grow compared to this year, since all the ministries, as well as the General Courts and the Judicial Power, increase their spending budget to a greater or lesser extent.

According to the Budget project presented by the Executive this Thursday, the item destined for the Head of State next year will amount to 8,431,150 euros, the same amount that was reserved for 2021 and 2022.

The budget item for the Royal House was frozen in 2015 and 2016, but in the following two years (2017 and 2018) it experienced a slight increase. In 2019 and 2020, in the absence of General State Budgets, the 2018 accounts had to be extended, when this item was 7,887,150.00 euros.

Of course, the 2021 budget already reflected a budget of 8,431,150 euros for the Royal House, a figure that, as Zarzuela clarified at the time, was due to adding the 7,887,150 euros of the budget prior to the extensions plus the 544,000 euros that the Casa del Rey had to advance in those two years without accounts to assume the salary increase of public employees in 2019 and 2020, in accordance with royal decree laws of the last three years.

The year 2021 was the first in which there was no allocation for the king emeritus, after Felipe VI decided to withdraw in March 2020. In addition, the head of state decided to freeze the allocations received by members of the Royal Family.
