The government spokesperson and Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, charged this Wednesday with the PP, stating that it is in "constitutional rebellion" and breaches the Constitution by not renewing the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ). That said, she has urged them to "first" renew the body of judges, before starting to talk about a reform of the election of members.

"The Constitution is neither negotiated nor coerced with it, it is fulfilled", the spokesperson defended in an interview with RNE, collected by Europa Press, when asked if the Government would be willing to accept some points of the PP bill , such as judges electing the majority of their representatives.

Rodríguez has indicated that the "first" thing the Government is asking for is compliance with the Constitution, "the same thing" that the European Commission Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, has added.

"That the CGPJ be unblocked", the spokesperson pointed out, stressing that in a democracy "you can always talk about everything", but that each party has to accept the parliamentary majorities that exist: "To start talking you have to respect the rules of the game".
