The Court of Accounts will be in charge of training the staff of its Libyan counterpart

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Court of Accounts will be in charge of providing technical advice and training to the staff of the Diwan of Accounting of Libya, the audit office of the Maghreb country, created in 1955.

This advisory service is included in a memorandum of understanding signed this week in Madrid by the president of the Spanish Court of Accounts, Enriqueta Chicano Jávega, and the president of the Libyan Accounting Diwan, Khalid AM. Shekshek. The signing was also attended by the Libyan ambassador to our country, Walid BD. Abuabdalla.

The Libyan Accounting Diwan was created after the country's independence and its current regulations date from 2013. Its strategic objective is to have an operating framework in accordance with international standards and for this it has the collaboration of the Intosai Development Initiative (IDI) that brings together audit institutions from around the world.

The Libyan agency also already has the technical assistance of other Supreme Audit Institutions, including the Netherlands, as well as other institutions such as the United States Development Agency (USAID).

The President of the Court of Auditors, who is also Secretary General of the European Association of Supreme Auditors (EUROSAI), already held a first meeting with the Diwan delegation last November within the framework of the XXIV INTOSAI congress, which was held in Brazil. , and from there arose the commitment to sign a mutual bilateral collaboration agreement that has now materialized.
