The AN sentences the former head of ETA 'Anboto' to 425 years in prison for the frustrated Mendizorroza attack in 1985

MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The National Court (AN) has sentenced the former head of ETA Soledad Iparraguirre, alias 'Anboto', to 425 years in prison, considering it proven that she was in charge of driving the car bomb that the gang used in the frustrated attack against the National Police on May 19, 1985 at the Mendizorroza Stadium, in Vitoria.

In a sentence last Friday, collected by Europa Press, the magistrates of the Criminal Chamber condemn 'Anboto' as the author of twenty crimes of attempted murder, another of attempted attack against agents of the authority and a crime of havoc due to the placement of the vehicle, which did not explode because it was deactivated by the TEDAX specialists.

This new sentence against the former head of the gang comes after the Supreme Court annulled the acquittal issued by the National Court in the first instance in favor of 'Anboto'. The high court called for a repeat trial and another ruling, considering that the first court omitted a fingerprint test "with a non-rational argument."

The Supreme Court revoked the acquittal because, in its opinion, the magistrates made a "serious mistake" by incorrectly omitting some prints found in one of the vehicles used by the terrorist commando and which corresponded to those of 'Anboto' herself.
