Social Security signs its third best June in history by gaining 115,607 affiliates

In seasonally adjusted terms, it added almost 77,000 employed persons in the month and the year-on-year growth of indefinite workers accelerated to 17%

MADRID, 4 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Social Security gained an average of 115,607 contributors in June (0.6%), its best figure in this month after those of 2005 and 2021, conditioned by the process of regularization of immigrants and by the lifting of the state of alarm against Covid , respectively.

With this rebound in affiliates, motivated by the summer campaign in the hotel and restaurant industry, the total number of employed media outlets exceeded the barrier of 20.3 million people. Specifically, June closed with 20,348,330 contributors, according to data published this Monday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.

In seasonally adjusted terms, the number of Social Security contributors followed the line of previous months and rose by 76,948 workers (0.4%) in relation to the month of May, "the best monthly data" compared to the pre-pandemic period. In this way, the total number of employed persons stood at 20,102,037 people, exceeding for the first time the 20.1 million contributors in the seasonally adjusted series.

The Ministry has also highlighted that 262,935 jobs have been created between January and June and almost 838,000 in the last year. Since last September, when the level of affiliation prior to the pandemic was reached, employment has increased by 616,000 people, and by more than one million if the data is compared to the start of 2019.

The Department headed by José Luis Escrivá has emphasized that this "dynamism" of employment, which has accelerated compared to recent months, "is being compatible with an improvement in its quality" thanks to the positive impact that the labor reform is having after six months in force (three of full validity), with an increase in the weight of indefinite contracts to 79%, nine points above the average for the month of June.

In the last year, Social Security has gained 848,053 affiliates in average values (4.3%), most of them in the General Scheme (816,091 contributors), followed by the Special Scheme for Self-Employed Workers (RETA), with 30,385 newly employed (0 .9%).

The monthly gain of average affiliates in June was due to both sexes, although more so to men, who added 88,965 contributors in the month compared to May (0.8%), compared to a rise in employed women of 26,642 contributors (0. 3%).

Thus, at the end of June, the number of employed women reached a new historical maximum, with a total of 9,535,950 affiliates. Male employment also set a record figure, reaching 10,812,380 contributors.

The average affiliation of foreigners, for its part, rose by 36,265 contributors in June, 1.5% compared to the previous month, to also reach historical highs, with a total of 2,462,890 employed persons.

By schemes, the General, the most numerous in the system, gained 105,711 average affiliates in June (0.6%), up to a total of 16,930,193 employed persons, while the Self-Employed Regime (RETA) added 8,006 affiliates (0.2 %), which placed the total number of self-employed contributors at 3,351,368.

Within the General Scheme, the rebound in affiliation was almost generalized. The hotel industry led the increase in employment, with 49,337 more contributors compared to May (3.4%), followed by commerce (30,946 employed, 1.2%); administrative activities (24,057 members, 1.7%) and health activities (21,585 contributors, 1.2%).

The affiliation only fell in June in education, due to the end of the school year, with 47,933 fewer employed persons (-4.4%), and in artistic activities, where employment decreased by 1,666 people (-0.6%).

For its part, the Special Agrarian System lost 28,623 jobs in the sixth month of the year (-3.8%) and the Home System registered 44 casualties (-0.01%).

By autonomous communities, the growth of monthly affiliation in Catalonia stood out, with an increase in average employed persons of 37,618 employed persons (1.2%), followed by the Balearic Islands (25,940 affiliates, 4.6%) and Madrid (15,041 employed persons, 0 ,4%). The biggest setback, on the other hand, was recorded by Andalusia, with 19,358 members less than in May (-0.6%).

In short, the Ministry underlines that the growth in enrollment compared to the level prior to the pandemic is generalized by sectors due to the increase in employment in the private sector. In addition, this rebound in membership has been "particularly intense" in innovative and value-added sectors, including information and communications (15.4%), education (9.1%), health activities (8.4%) , and scientific-technical activities (8%).

Likewise, Social Security points out that, geographically, the recovery of the level of affiliation prior to the pandemic is also generalized, since all the autonomous communities currently have more affiliates than in February 2020.

Regarding the impact of the labor reform on employment, in June the increase in affiliates with indefinite contracts accelerated, with a year-on-year growth rate of 17% (in May it was 16% and in April, slightly above 10 %).

Compared to the usual trend in a month of June prior to the pandemic, 79% of people who were employed in June of this year had permanent contracts, nine points more than usual before the pandemic.

The Ministry highlights that even in the sectors with more temporary contracts, there has been a "notable" increase in permanent contracts, as in the case of construction, hospitality and administrative activities.

At the same time, the Department headed by José Luis Escrivá has highlighted that the effects of the labor reform are being "especially positive" among young people, a group that usually has high rates of temporary employment.

Thus, the percentage of people under 30 years of age with an indefinite contract stood at 64% in June, almost 30 points above the average for the months of June of the 2015-2021 period (37%).

On the other hand, the Ministry has reported that workers in ERTE for economic, technical, organizational or production reasons (ETOP) have stabilized at around 17,898.

In total, at the end of June there were 21,570 workers in ERTE, of which 17,898 were in an ERTE-ETOP; 1,121 in an ERTE due to force majeure, and 2,551 in the sectoral ERTE for travel agencies.

The Ministry has also indicated that nearly 100,000 self-employed workers saw their Social Security contributions exempted by 25% in June.
