Sánchez will have to appear in Congress to report on the war in Ukraine and the agreements with Morocco

MADRID, 21 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will have to appear in plenary session of Congress to report on Spain's commitments in relation to the war in Ukraine and on the agreements reached at the last bilateral summit with Morocco, especially around the Sahara, as agreed this Tuesday by the Board of Spokesmen of the Chamber.

These are two requests to appear that were registered by the PP and that have not only added the support of Vox and Ciudadanos, but also of Unidas Podemos and government allies such as ERC and the plural and mixed groups, until the PSOE has ended up supporting them too, according to sources from the Popular Group.

The next step will be to set a date for that appearance, something that depends on the Prime Minister's agenda. It could be in the week of March 8 or in a later plenary session.

At a press conference, the PP spokeswoman, Cuca Gamarra, celebrated that her requests to appear had gone ahead and complained that "absolute opacity" is being the government's "sign of identity" in foreign policy.

Thus, Gamarra has denounced that there is no communication from Pedro Sánchez with the opposition leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, about Spanish aid to the war in Ukraine and believes that the issue is being carried out "silently" to avoid it being highlight the differences within the Executive, between the PSOE and United We Can.

And he also wants the president to inform Congress of the commitments made by the Government in the last High Level Meeting (RAN) with Morocco, especially in relation to the Sahara and the opening of customs in Ceuta and Melilla, which remain closed.
