Sánchez warns Putin that Spain will never recognize the "illegal annexation" of Ukrainian territories

MADRID, 30 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, stressed this Friday that Spain will never recognize the "illegal annexation" of four Ukrainian regions announced by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, after the holding of referendums by the Russian occupation authorities .

In a message on his Twitter account, he condemned "the heinous attack on a humanitarian convoy by Russia in Zaporizhia and the death of innocent civilians." According to the Ukrainian authorities, at least 23 people have died and another 30 have been injured.

Sánchez has denounced that this "new massacre" has been committed on the same day that the Russian president has signed "the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories, which Spain and Europe will never recognize".

During a symbolic act in the Kremlin, and in the presence of the main authorities of the country and the pro-Russian leaders of the four Ukrainian regions, Putin has proclaimed the annexation of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. "They will be Russian citizens forever," he said.

The Government had already warned that it was not going to give any validity to the referendums. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry already expressed its condemnation of "the illegal voting rigsorganized in Ukraine" in the regions of Donetk, Lugansk, Jerson and Zaporiyia, under Russian control.

Likewise, he stressed that "he does not grant any credibility or legitimacy to the fictitious results announced by the occupation forces" and expressed his categorical rejection of "any action or decision that may be taken by the Russian authorities aimed at the illegal annexation of said territories" .
