Sánchez warns in Davos against the risk that conservative parties open the doors of governments to the extreme right

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has warned today in the Davos forum against the risk that the conservative parties open the door of the governments to the extreme right and has proposed avoiding it with the same determination that the Ukrainians fight against the Russians although with different weapons, with democracy, transparency and efficient policies.

Sánchez has referred to this issue both during his speech in the aforementioned forum, and in subsequent questions. Thus, when questioned about the concern that he has expressed for populist movements in Europe, the Prime Minister has made it clear that they cannot be "complacent".

"The main risk is that the conservative parties open the doors of the governments to far-right parties and this is something that goes diametrically against the EU," he exclaimed, although he did not want to give any concrete example despite the invitation. What has the presenter done to it?

However, he has made it clear that there is a "crucial thing" that must be done and that is to "fight the rotten seeds that Putin has planted in our own countries." In fact, he has asked not to forget that the "Russian autocrat" is not alone in his "reactionary aspiration to fracture the world and turn back the clock."

According to Pedro Sánchez, the Russian president has many allies in Europe who now "hide their sympathies and connections with Putin" but who "barely a year ago visited him and praised his ways."

Having said this, the head of the Spanish Executive considers that these far-right political forces must be prevented from reaching the institutions and "destroying the EU from within". "The threat is very real, especially in those countries where these ultra-right forces have the support of the main conservative parties that are opening the very doors of the Government for them," he warned.

In his opinion, he must fight this "with the same determination that the Ukrainians are fighting against the Russian forces but of course with different weapons."
