Sánchez addresses with his Icelandic counterpart the challenges of NATO, bilateral relations and climate change

MADRID, 28 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, held a meeting this Tuesday with the Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, in La Moncloa, in which they discussed the need to strengthen relations between the two countries, the challenges they face the Atlantic Alliance, climate change and equality, among other issues, within the framework of the NATO Summit to be held on July 29 and 30 in Madrid.

This was reported by Sánchez in a message written on his Twitter profile in which he highlighted that the rights of women, the LGTBIQ community and climate change are "areas of the multilateral agenda" in which both governments can collaborate.

As Moncloa has collected a statement, the interest of Icelanders in Spanish culture is relevant, in fact, Spanish is the most chosen non-compulsory language in the country as a foreign language.

The President of the Government has influenced the Executive's support for Ukraine, and has congratulated Jakobsdóttir for the rapid adoption of the EU sanctions packages against Russia. "We hope that this Summit offers a strong sign of unity and cohesion. That is our best weapon", Sánchez highlighted.
