Rufián sees "very serious" that Barcelona paid an arbitration leader and encourages them to pursue "corruption"

MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The ERC spokesman in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has expressed his concern on Thursday about the so-called 'Negreira case' and has acknowledged that it would be "very serious" for Fútbol Club Barcelona to have been paying an arbitration leader. In his opinion, "corruption" must be pursued in all areas, including football.

This is how he responded in the corridors of Congress when asked about the investigation opened by the Prosecutor's Office on the payment by FC Barcelona, for advisory services, to the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) of the Royal Spanish Federation of Soccer (RFEF), José María Enríquez Negreira, while in office.

Rufián believes that, if this information is confirmed, it would be "very serious" and considers that, as happens in institutions, there are "those who act as if the soccer teams were theirs."

Asked if Barça should be sanctioned for this matter by being demoted from the category, the ERC spokesman, a self-confessed follower of 'Espanyol', limited himself to requesting that the provisions of the regulations governing these cases be applied.

"I don't care if it's a powerful club," he said, remembering, yes, that other teams have also been in the spotlight on other occasions. Specifically, he has cited the urban "balls" or the "transfers almost on the edge of the impossible" of Real Madrid.
