The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, will participate this Thursday afternoon in a meeting of six Leopard 2 user countries to discuss, among other things, the availability of these tanks and the possibilities of donating to Ukraine from the different countries. according to what Defense sources have informed Europa Press.

This meeting, which will be held by videoconference at the ministerial level, is convened by the new German Defense Minister, Boris Pistorious, and will also address the times required for his enlistment and the aspects of training, maintenance, spare parts and transport logistics support.

The six Leopard 2 tank user countries will also discuss support lead times in order to prepare a joint and coordinated approach among some of the major Leopard 2 users.

The aforementioned sources point out that Robles will reiterate Spain's "decided support" for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and will highlight the opportunity and importance of this conversation and the Contact Group meetings to maintain close coordination between all partners and allies.

The minister will also transfer to these countries the offer to carry out in Spain the training of crews of company entity (up to 54 military personnel simultaneously) in the Leopard 2A4 main battle tank, in a module of about two months or two and a half months of duration.

This offer is in response to a formal request transmitted by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, who has shown interest in the training carried out in our country. He will also confirm that Spain will begin an industrial process for the urgent development of the group of Leopard 2A4 tanks that can be delivered to Ukraine.
