He criticizes "some who speak of women's equality as if nothing had happened until they arrived"

MADRID, 14 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, has vindicated this Wednesday the work of the Spanish justice and has claimed that the magistrates are dedicated to the application of laws, not to their drafting.

"They do not make the law. If there are rulings, they are of the law and they are not rulings of the judges," he said at the closing ceremony in the Senate of the award ceremony of the XXI Edition of the Montero Ríos Award, granted by the Association of Jurists Gallegos.

In full controversy over the application of the 'only yes is yes' law, Robles has taken the opportunity to "say loud and clear" that the judges are "a source of pride" for Spain. "They fulfill their obligation, they are an essential bulwark of the rule of law, they put in long hours, work hard, they know the law and apply the law," he stressed.

In fact, he has regretted that the media only highlight "the defects", but he has claimed that, without the judges, Spain would be a "less fair" country.

In this context, Robles has also recalled her first position of relevance as president of the Provincial Court of Barcelona in 1991.

"Some who speak of the equality of women as if nothing had happened until they had arrived," she pointed out, recalling her experience as president of the court.
