Defense Minister Margarita Robles acknowledged this Monday that "there will come a time" when there will have to be a ceasefire and peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, but she has stressed that "the only person responsible" for the war is Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In an interview on TVE, the minister emphasized that Putin was the one who initiated the invasion of Ukraine, while Volodímir Zelensky's government is only "exercising legitimate defense".
In this context, he assured that the European Union and NATO have always claimed that "there is no escalation". And he also recalled that before the start of the military offensive "all possible attempts" were made so that there would be no war ".
"There will come a time when there has to be a ceasefire scenario and peace talks," he acknowledged. "Spain is obviously committed to peace, to de-escalation, but the only person responsible is Putin."
