Robles accuses the PP of making "partisan" use of the military and reproaches Feijóo for not talking to her

MADRID, 22 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, has accused the Popular Party of wanting to make "partisan" use of the Armed Forces and has reproached the leader of the "populares", Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for not having spoken to her directly about the visit that he intended to do to the Spanish contingent deployed in Latvia.

"From the perspective of someone who has a deep sense of State, I find it incredible and sad that the team that organizes Mr. Feijoó's agenda, because Feijóo has not spoken to me, wants to make partisan use of the troops that are in Latvia," Robles has censured in the halls of Congress after the PP denounced that Defense had vetoed a visit by its president to the military deployed on the border with Russia.

The minister stressed that the troops that are part of the NATO mission in Latvia are participating in a "very risky" mission and "we must be very respectful" with the work they carry out there together with contingents from other countries of the Atlantic Alliance .

For this reason, he regretted that "whoever organizes the agenda" for Feijóo wants to "use the work and prestige that the Armed Forces have." "I know that her team must be preparing an agenda for the next elections," Robles has slipped, repeating on several occasions that the PP leader has not contacted her. "When Mr. Feijóo talks to me, he will explain to me the intentions that he has, that I do not know," he pointed out.

In addition, he has invited him to visit any of the military units in Spain, which he has stressed that he has not visited since he came to the leadership of the PP. "I am sure that the team that organizes the agenda understands that there are 120,000 soldiers in Spain and abroad who can visit without making partisan use," she claimed.

In fact, he has rejected the justification of the 'popular' that they had the approval of the Atlantic Alliance for the visit to Latvia --"NATO as an abstract entity I don't know what it refers to"-- and has asked Feijóo that he "deals" with the military "at least" as she does: "From pride, work, recognition and never impeding work."
