Putin accuses the United States of fueling tensions in Asia and the Pacific after Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

MADRID, 16 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of "deliberately" provoking tensions in the Asia-Pacific region following US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

"The United States once again deliberately tried to add fuel to the fire and stir up the situation in the Asia-Pacific region. The American adventure against Taiwan is not just the individual journey of an irresponsible politician, but part of a conscious movement and determined of the United States", he indicated.

Thus, during an annual military forum held near Moscow, Putin stressed that Washington, with these actions, seeks to "destabilize and chaos the situation in the region and the world", which represents "a brazen display of disrespect for the sovereignty of other countries and their international obligations".

"The United States and its vassals grossly interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states: they organize provocations, coups, civil wars. They try to force independent states to obey their will, to live by rules that are alien to them, through threats, blackmail and pressure", he specified, according to the newspaper 'Kommersant'.

The objective of the West is, according to the Russian president, "to maintain its dominance", which allows it to "parasitize the entire world". Likewise, he has referred to the role of NATO and its advance towards the east with the recent incorporation of Sweden and Finland.

To do this, according to Putin, the Western bloc is forming "aggressive political-military alliances", such as the AUKUS agreement, signed by Canberra, Washington and London, with the aim of "extending its block system to the Asia-Pacific region by analogy with NATO in Europe".

"It is hypocritically declared that this (the expansion of the Atlantic Alliance) is a necessity to strengthen security in Europe, but in reality the opposite is happening," Putin said, as reported by the TASS news agency.
