PP and Vox rely on the Bank of Spain to question Calviño's management, which urges them to read the report

MADRID, 25 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PP and Vox have relied on the latest report from the Bank of Spain to criticize the government's economic policy, pointing out that the body has placed the country as the one that will take the longest to recover its level of GDP prior to the pandemic, while the vice president of Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, has urged them to read the institution's annual report.

And it is that first Jaime de Olano, new economic coordinator of the PP, and then Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, parliamentary spokesman for Vox, have recalled the words of one of those responsible for the supervisory body -- "we are the ones who have done the worst" -- at the presentation of its annual report, which this Thursday arrives at the Lower House.

"Its economic policy is being the worst in Europe. The data doesn't lie", De Olano stated, highlighting how the Spanish economy will not recover the lost GDP until the end of 2023 when there are already other countries that have done so, with levels of debt deficit and deficit "more than double the allowed".

The 'popular' deputy has lamented that, despite these data, in the Government "they do not show the slightest intention of amendment", something that he attributes to the fact that they are "installed in a false reality, created with lies, arrogance and a lot of propaganda ".

"The reasonable thing is to rectify, let yourselves help", De Olano has asked, urging to agree on his economic policy with the PP "and not with Rufián (ERC), Otegi (Bildu) and Echenique (United We Can)" as, he has said, " would prefer the vast majority of Spaniards".

The economic vice president has accused De Olano of relying on "always negative, always destructive statements" that "do not reflect the economic policy of the Government", nor with the evaluation of all the independent organizations that, she has maintained, foresee growth for this same year between 4% and 4.8%.

"What we lack is the support of the opposition, which votes day after day against the government's proposals," Calviño has sentenced, calling on the PP "to get out of the 'no' corner" and "start voting in favor which is what the country needs.

For his part, Espinosa de los Monteros has pointed out that the report of the Bank of Spain, "one of the few institutions that have not been contaminated", he has said, by the Government, is "devastating" for those responsible for economics of the Executive, and Given Calviño's words, he has compared it to the "joke" of the madman who goes in the opposite direction and believes that others are wrong.

The Vox spokesman has pointed out that "the Spanish are perfectly aware" of the situation, seeing the prices in the supermarket, the electricity bill or the price of fuel, and that the proof is the latest electoral results. "In Castilla y León they took a huge stick and another one is coming in Andalusia", he has anticipated.

For Calviño, the words of the Vox deputy respond to a strategy of "generating negative energy, tension and causing fear", and he has accused this formation of facilitating the purchase of weapons, disrespecting disabled people and haranguing the fear of different people and "generate confusion".

"I do not expect anything from your training, but I expected you to at least read the documents to which you refer. Both the Bank of Spain, the AIReF and the European Commission expect Spain to be one of the countries with one of the fastest growing stronger in 2022 and 2023," he said.
