Oltra rules out resigning after his imputation: "It is an ethical, aesthetic and political position"

He assures that he has not spoken with Puig about the matter, that he has the support of the entire Consell and that no one is negotiating to replace him

"Any comparison with the corrupt behavior of the PP is hateful," he stresses about his resignation requests to former President Camps

The vice president of the Generalitat Valenciana and Minister of Equality, Mónica Oltra, has ruled out resigning after her accusation for the alleged cover-up of her ex-husband's abuse of a minor under guardianship, stressing that "it is an ethical, aesthetic and political position" and not a staff. "I am consistent and I will continue to be," she has asserted, and she has assured that she has not spoken to the 'president' Ximo Puig about this and that she feels supported by the entire Consell.

This has been pronounced for the first time after the decision of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) to investigate it, which was announced this Thursday, in its weekly appearance as spokesperson after the plenary session of government after announcing, as usual , the agreements approved by the Consell.

The press conference took place in the midst of great media expectation, which has forced the two press rooms in the Palau de Castellfort to be set up. Oltra has stayed at the Palau de la Generalitat, located opposite, since he has finished the government meeting and has received a bouquet of flowers upon his arrival, although it has not been specified who has taken it.

During the appearance, which lasted more than an hour, he has assured that he has not spoken about his accusation with Puig, although he has seen him in plenary and they have given "two kisses", and that if he has to meet with him "it will surely be for deal with more profitable topics for the Valencian people". "This is a political issue and I am not going to add more pressure to the 'president'," she stressed, insisting that he "knows what is there."

She has guaranteed that she feels supported by all the members of the Valencian government and that it is false that her replacement is being negotiated, in addition to rejecting that this case is comparable to the demands that she made of the PPCV and the 'ex-president' Francisco Camps in his stage in opposition. "Any comparison with the corrupt behavior of the PP is hateful", she has emphasized, and she has recalled that Camps was absent from the control sessions and she "never" hid.

Regarding the TSJCV order, Oltra has highlighted that the phrase that "defines it" is that "it is true that there is no direct evidence" about the alleged cover-up and has once again pointed to "a hunt by the extreme right" and that "there is a problem if in this country the truth is unbelievable". "These people cannot win, this is a political question of democratic defense. If they do it to me, they can do it to anyone", he has asserted.

"We remain in the same conditions (...) No judicial process is going to alter the truth and reality," he stressed, insisting that he has already given "all the explanations" both to journalists and to Les Corts.

In the face of his statement on July 6, he has recognized that it will not be something "nice", although he believes that there he will have the "opportunity" to explain himself for the first time in court and that this is "the only thing that changes" after his imputation . Of course, he has advanced that he will say "basically" the same as in his monographic appearance on the case of April 21, 2021 --"I will tell the truth, what I have always done"-- and that the "plural indications" that he indicates the order "will obviously be answered in court".

"JUDICIAL PROCESSES DO NOT CHANGE REALITY"

Asked if she contemplates resigning if she is prosecuted, she has reiterated that "judicial processes do not change reality, nor its different phases", nor "what happened five years ago". "The simplest explanation is usually the truth," she has said at another time, and she has also recalled that she was already charged for defending the heritage and the residents of Cabanyal de València.

Regarding the statements of the 13 officials of his department, Oltra has stated that "they said that there has been no directive, nor any interference and that they worked in an objective, independent and professional manner." He has rejected that these workers are lying to save her and has remarked that he does not know many of them or what they think or vote or if they like him or not.

Regarding the pressure she has been facing in recent weeks and whether this process overshadows or affects the Generalitat, she has stated that she does not feel "political exhaustion", that it is different from the personal one, and that she feels "more pressured" by the policies of her department how to end the dependency waiting list. She has also remarked that she decided to talk about the accusation of her as her spokesperson because she met this Thursday, as well as what she perceives the most on the street are the "encouragement" of the people.

"THE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THERE IS"

For all this, he has assured that he is not considering resigning: "In life, when one has convictions, and my career supports it, one must know how to withstand pressure and even personal encouragement." He added later that anyone who knows her "can draw their conclusions" and that "people listen to all the explanations and know what there is".

In a political key, questioned for her participation in the platform that Yolanda Díaz will promote, Oltra has remarked that she does not make partisan statements at the Consell spokesperson's table. In addition, she has indicated that, as vice presidents, the last time they saw each other was in Valencia, at the congress on the implementation of the four-day working day.

Mónica Oltra, also a co-spokesperson for Compromís, is charged by the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) and summoned to testify on July 6. The 15th Investigating Court of Valencia remitted her actions in April, estimating that there were presumably criminal acts attributed to her, given her status as a judge of hers.
