OHLA wins a new contract for the Santiago de Chile metro for 75 million euros

MADRID, 1 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

OHLA has been awarded a new section of the construction project for line 7 of the Santiago de Chile metro (Chile) for an amount close to 75 million euros, in addition to other actions previously carried out by the company on other lines of the suburban.

The initiative, granted by the Metro Passenger Transport Company, corresponds to section 4 and is part of the plan to expand the metro network to improve transport in the city, as reported by the company in a statement.

The works include, among others, the construction of three construction shafts and one station shaft, all with their respective access galleries, as well as the construction of 240 meters of station tunnel and the execution of 3,400 meters of inter-station tunnels.

The project also contemplates the execution of the civil works of the stations, platforms, mezzanines and access stairs, in addition to the construction of the Rectifier Substation (SER) of the Isidora Goyenechea station. The section includes the connection with another line currently in operation (line 6) and a construction shaft with two double-height galleries.

Prior to these works, the company has participated in different construction projects in the Santiago Metro, highlighting the civil works of shafts, galleries and tunnels, both for stations and interstations, in sections 5 and 6 of line 3, with a joint extension of six kilometers.

It has also carried out the civil works of shafts and galleries in sections 1 and 2, as well as reinforcement shafts of the Franklin station, which combines the current line 2 with line 6, the first subway station in Chile that was built below another in service, as well as the workshops and depots of line 6.

OHLA began its activity in Chile in 1981, participating in projects such as the construction of the recently inaugurated Américo Vespucio Oriente I highway, the construction of a 110-kilometre section of highway 60, access to the port of San Antonio or the 218-kilometre of the Santiago-Los Vilos section of route 5.

Others are added to these initiatives, such as the construction of eight hospitals with more than 2,865 beds and 418,000 square meters, including the Military Hospital, Gustavo Fricke and Curicó; the National Congress building in Valparaíso; the Embassy of the United States in Santiago; various mining works and the construction of the Valparaíso-Viña del Mar Metro.

The company's portfolio also includes the construction of the Legal Medical Service in Santiago, the design and construction of the concession hospitals of the Bío Bío network (Santa Bárbara, Nacimiento, Coronel and Lota), the replacement of Américo Vespucio Oriente I, the police complex of the Investigative Police in Viña del Mar, the Carabineros training school in Concepción, the concession of the Santiago Justice Center and the sloping and construction of the walls of the Spence mining tailings deposit.
