"This 22nd edition of the Companies and Leaders monitor shows important general and sectoral changes, both in organizations and their managers. Analyzing the 2020/22 evolution, companies have advanced in the reputational field and this is reflected in the assessments of the experts, however, the sections on ESG responsibility and internationalization continue to be the main weak points. At the level of business leaders, communication deficits continue to be a burden on the reputational profile", explained the director of Merco, José María San Segundo, in the presentation .

These rankings are the result of more than 46,368 surveys, 7 evaluations and 25 sources of information. The preparation of Merco has been carried out by Analysis and Research, the leading Spanish market research institute, and the methodology for preparing the ranking of companies with the best reputation has been subject to independent review by KPMG in accordance with the ISAE3000 standard. For this reason, KPMG does not make its position in this ranking public.

In addition, on this occasion, the monitor has had the participation of 1,116 executives from large companies, 85 communication directors and opinion leaders, 82 economic information journalists, 56 members of government, 77 professors from the business area, 86 financial analysts , 71 social media managers, 93 NGO managers, 82 trade union managers, 70 consumer association managers, 611 SME managers and 38,526 Merco Talento participants (employees, university students, business school alumni, human resources managers, experts headhunters, union members and citizens).

As a novelty this year, 5,335 citizens have been interviewed, surveyed as a general population, since as a novelty the evaluation of Merco Sociedad has been included, the monitor that measures reputation from the citizen perspective, which was previously evaluated in Merco Consumption only from the consumer angle.

Together with these evaluations, an analysis is also carried out in the digital sphere of companies (Merco Digital), with more than 677,361 references evaluated, and a 'benchmarking' of objective indicators that include the main sections of the reality of companies.
