Margarita Robles goes to Congress to account for the use of reserved Defense funds

MADRID, 11 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, will go to Congress next Friday to report on the use of reserved funds in her department, an appearance that will take place, as usual, behind closed doors.

In accordance with the law, the Government must inform Congress of reserved expenses every six months, an appearance that is usually carried out by the three ministers who have these items (Interior, Defense and Foreign Affairs) and the head of the National Intelligence Center (CNI).

Due to cross vetoes between parties, Congress took half a legislature to establish the Reserved Expenses Commission where these appearances take place, but it finally created it after the Pegasus espionage controversy and thanks to lowering the majorities necessary for the independentistas to enter.

And it was in August, when the Government requested the appearances of the ministers, although these did not begin to be substantiated until last November 8, when the head of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, attended the commission, who did so in full controversy over the new information that appeared in relation to the tragedy that took place on the Melilla border on June 24.

Now, according to what parliamentary sources have informed Europa Press, it is the turn of the person in charge of Defense, who will do so on December 16 at 11 in the morning.

That appointment will be the premiere in the Commission of Reserved Expenses of the spokesman for the Socialist Group in Congress, Patxi López, who last week obtained authorization from the Plenary to have access to reserved information, replacing his predecessor in office, Héctor Gómez.
