Álvarez-Pallete and Sánchez Galán lead the representation of the Ibex 35 in Davos

The Spanish business representation at the World Economic Forum, which will take place between May 22 and 26, will include the presence of José María Álvarez-Pallete, president and CEO of Telefónica, and Ignacio Sánchez Galán, president and CEO of Iberdrola, as the main representatives of the large Spanish listed companies that will participate as speakers at the event.

Among the list of Ibex 35 attendees at the Davos event, there is also Josu Jon Imaz, CEO of Repsol, who will not take part as a speaker on any panel, in addition to Carlos Torres, president of BBVA; Francisco Reynés, Chairman and CEO of Naturgy, and Rafael del Pino, Executive Chairman of Ferrovial.

Likewise, Luisa Gómez Bravo, global director of BBVA Corporate, will also participate in one of the talks

Other Spaniards who plan to attend the Forum are Ivan Caballero, CEO and founder of Citibeats; Luis Cabra, director of Repsol; Agustín Delgado, head of innovation and sustainability at Iberdrola; Jordi García Tabernero, Global Director of Sustainability, Reputation and Institutional Relations at Naturgy; Eduardo Navarro, director of corporate affairs and sustainability at Telefónica, and Esteban Raventós, from Baker McKenzie.

According to the organizers of the Forum, which is being held again in person in the Swiss town of Davos, after a two-year break forced by the pandemic, other prominent Spanish executives who will take part in the talks and conferences will be Ramón Laguarta, president and director Pepsico delegate; Enrique Lores, president and CEO of HP; Belén Garijo, CEO of the German Merck; and Ester Baiget, president and CEO of Novozymes.

Aside from the business world, Arancha González Laya, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs, as well as María Mendiluce, director of We Mean Business, will also be present at Davos.

For his part, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will once again have a prominent presence at the World Economic Forum, where he plans to speak twice next Tuesday, in addition to meeting with representatives of some of the main microprocessor manufacturers.

In this way, in a first act on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., the Spanish president will give a speech and later, at 3:00 p.m., he will participate in a colloquium on energy security and the European 'Green Deal', together with Frans Timmermans, vice president of the European Commission; the president of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauséda; Anna Borg, president and director of Vattenfall; and Ester Baiget, president and CEO of Novozymes.

According to the list of participants in the event provided by the organization, the Government's representation in Davos will be completed with the presence of Teresa Ribera, deputy president of the Government and minister for the Ecological Transition; José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; and Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

During his presence in Davos, which will run from next Monday to Wednesday morning, the Prime Minister will meet with the main leaders of Intel, Qualcomm, Micron and Cisco.

Likewise, the Chief Executive will also meet with Temasek, the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore, which has shown its interest in investing in Spain, according to Moncloa sources, in addition to holding a meeting with leaders of ArcelorMittal to discuss pending investments in Spain.

In this way, after a two-year break due to the pandemic, the World Economic Forum will recover the face-to-face format, after the uptick in infections forced a new physical meeting scheduled for the 17th and 21st of last month from January.

Since its creation in 1971, the conclave, better known as the Davos Forum, aims to bring together senior executives from the world's leading companies, heads of state, ministers, influential political personalities, renowned academics, representatives of organizations, young people, as well as as well as representatives of technological innovation and civil society.

In its 2022 edition, the event will revolve around the theme 'History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies' at a geopolitical and geoeconomic moment marked by a pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

More than 50 heads of state and government, among around 300 government representatives, as well as more than 1,250 private sector leaders, along with nearly 100 global innovators and technology pioneers, are expected to take part in the event.

In addition, civil society will be represented at Davos by more than 200 leaders from NGOs, social entrepreneurs, academics, labor organizations, religious and faith-based groups, and more than 400 media and press leaders.
