Real Madrid beat Celta with authority with a recital by Modric

MADRID, 20 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Real Madrid continues with its full of victories in the 2022/23 season after beating Celta de Vigo (1-4) thanks to the recital of Luka Modric, author of a goal and an assist, on a night where the meringues did not throw miss the Brazilian Casemiro, who packed his bags for Manchester last Friday.

Life continues the same for Carlo Ancelotti's team, which has won all its official matches this season. In the League it's already two out of two for the Whites, who attacked Balaídos with the authority of the defending champion, with more goals than merits, but with a well-oiled revolver.

It was the first great night for Aurélien Tchouaméni, called to be Casemiro's substitute, and it was also Modric's, who was in all the sauces. The Croatian was decisive to uneven the match and to increase the advantage in the second round. A textbook match that started in the best way for the madridistas.

Barely 10 minutes had passed when Tapia's handball, which had to be reviewed by the VAR, became a penalty for Real Madrid. Benzema made no mistake from the penalty line and put pressure on Celta who were forced to react in the later stretch. 'Chacho' Coudet's pupils gained in confidence based on possession.

And the same 'luck' with Tapia's hand Celta had with one of Militao, who was prosecuted without the need for the video because of the gesture on his face. The referee signaled a penalty and the sky blue captain, Iago Aspas, did not waste the opportunity despite the intuition of Thibaut Courtois, who was not far from stopping the shot.

Ancelotti took matters into his own hands and got up from his seat to ask for more prominence from Camavinga, which grew as the minutes went by. The Frenchman took over the start of the build and gave more air to a Modric who was in charge of making it 1-2 just before half-time. It was in a master action, a threaded shot from outside the area that no one expected.

The talent of the Ballon d'Or lowered the olivic illusions, which vanished in the second half, in the blink of an eye because of Vinicius. The Brazilian finished off an exceptional pass from Modric with a one-on-one that Ronaldo Nazario himself would have signed. A goal that he would not have scored in his first season and that -now- is part of his identity.

Ten minutes later, with half an hour to go, Fede Valverde settled the tie at 1-4. On this occasion the goal came with a cross shot, a ball that bore the name of Benzema, but the Uruguayan appeared like an exhalation and shot the long post. So much so that he closed the clash despite Vigo's efforts, more with his heart than with his head.

Modric left his place for Ceballos and was applauded by Balaídos, a rare bird in Spanish football, and Hazard and Asensio also had their little bit of glory. The Belgian even missed a penalty that Benzema gave him. That was the highlight of a game that was more than decided because Modric took his magic wand out for a walk.
