Lastra stresses that in Podemos there is an internal debate on prostitution but calls on them to vote in favor of its abolition

He hopes that the PP will support taking it into consideration because three years ago they voted for a PNL in favor of prohibiting this activity

MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy general secretary of the PSOE, Adriana Lastra, has pointed out that in United We Can there is an internal debate regarding how to legislate on prostitution and that it is an issue that the partner of the coalition government has not resolved. However, she has asked them to vote in Congress this Tuesday in favor of taking into consideration the abolitionist law promoted by the socialists.

In this line, he has assured that it is a debated issue, also in Congress and has even indicated that 90 years ago it was discussed in the Lower House. "They won't have it debated internally," he made ugly at a press conference from the party's headquarters in Ferraz.

Therefore, he hopes that the law advances in the legislative process and that Tuesday's vote goes ahead with the support of the entire parliamentary arch, including the PP. Thus, he has recalled that the 'popular' three years ago voted in favor of a non-law proposal (NLP) that defended the abolition of prostitution and that they will maintain this position.

When asked if they have maintained contacts in this regard with the Ministry of Equality, led by Irene Montero, Lastra has replied that they have not, but that they know the position of the PSOE. Thus, she has indicated that there is a part of United We Can that will support the taking into consideration but there is another - "the commons" - that have not yet spoken.

"If it is an issue that they have not resolved, it is not a problem for the PSOE", he insisted, emphasizing that the Socialists have had a unique position "for many years", as he added. "What I hope is that both Podemos and the commons as well as the confluences that are part of that parliamentary group support the abolitionist position of the PSOE," he settled.
