Jack Dorsey keeps his promise and leaves the board of directors of Twitter

   MADRID, 26 May. (Portaltic/EP) -

The co-founder and former chief executive officer (CEO) of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has announced during the last board of directors of the company that he will leave the social network immediately.

Dorsey confirmed at the end of last November that he would leave his position as CEO at Twitter, whose Board of Directors appointed Parag Agrawal as the new chief executive, who until then held the position of chief technology officer.

"I have decided to leave Twitter because I think the company is ready to leave its founders behind," the manager said then.

Despite leaving his post, he remained a member of the top leadership until the expiration of his term at the 2022 shareholders' meeting.

This Twitter shareholders' meeting was held this Wednesday, where Dorsey's departure was decreed, as reported by NBC News. With his departure, the social network is left without any of the people who contributed to its foundation and development in 2006.

Dorsey's departure took place weeks after the sale of Twitter to Elon Musk, a move that the former manager himself approved, assuring that the American billionaire was "the only solution" he trusted for the future of the platform. The acquisition was temporarily halted in mid-May due to the proportion of fake accounts and bots.

Dorsey currently performs management functions in the 'fintech' Block, founded as Square, which focuses on digital payment products and services and has a presence in different European countries. Among them, Spain, where she landed in January of this year.
