Inma Gabarro leads Spain to the U-20 World Cup final

MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish U-20 women's team qualified for the second time in its history for the World Cup final in the category after beating the Netherlands 2-1 this Thursday in the semifinals, with Inma Gabarro once again as the protagonist.

The generation of Patri Guijarro, Aitana Bonmatí, Laia Aleixandri and Lucía García reached the final of this championship in 2018, losing then to Japan, and now the U-19 European champions will have the opportunity to take their revenge in Costa Rica, also against the Japanese, who knocked out Brazil (2-1) to defend their title.

Pedro López's team remains firm on its path and did so once again hand in hand with its '9', an Inma Gabarro who is being one of the great stars of this World Cup and who signed a double in just three minutes to put the Spaniards on track to the final.

The Sevilla striker has already scored seven goals in Costa Rica and, along with Salma Paralluelo and Ansu Martínez, was a constant threat to the Dutch team's defence, which suffered a lot from the aggressiveness and good play of its rival, much superior in the first part, but that he did not finish sentencing and could not relax until the end.

After a serious warning from the Netherlands, Spain definitively took control of the clash and went ahead on the scoreboard. After Salma Paralluelo and Inma Gabarro squandered two good chances, the Sevilla player did not forgive a serious mistake by the rival defence, who handed her the ball in a poor clearance inside her own area that handed the ball to Ane Alexpuru who he gave it to the '9' (minute 22).

The Andalusian would be the protagonist again three minutes later with the 2-0, a much more difficult goal and a beautifully crafted goal after receiving a ball from behind and turning and hitting it before the astonished look of Alkemade in what also meant the goal 1,000 of the U-20 World Cups.

The Netherlands, who had a good opportunity to close the gap before the break through Rijsbergen, got back into the match at the start of the second half, thanks to a sharp shot from outside the box by Van Gool against which nothing could make Txell Font and with which he put an end to Spain's unbeaten record in the tournament.

The Dutch team once again threatened the draw with another long-range shot that brushed the goalpost of Pedro López's team, who failed to sentence with another good chance from Salma Paralluelo, but did know how to hold on to their advantage without further frights to win the prize for the final on Sunday.
