Iceta assures that the Government did not agree that Aragonès would leave the summit before the anthems

He says that the Dialogue Table has not ended and explains that when they meet it is to certify an agreement

MADRID, 20 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, has assured this Friday that the Government did not agree that the President of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès, should leave the Spanish-French summit that was held yesterday in Barcelona before the anthems of Spain and France sounded.

"These things are not agreed upon", Iceta assured in an interview on Onda Cero, collected by Europa Press, in which he stressed that a regional president "does not despise this type of event" and that he would have tried to "sneak into the meeting and stay in it".

In addition, he has criticized other regional leaders who have not attended similar summits held in Galicia or Madrid. "Those presidents who, being invited to this type of summit, do not attend, move me more to scandal," she pointed out.

Asked about whether he supports the thesis that the 'procès' has ended, Iceta has indicated that the first to affirm it was Jordi Sánchez "who was tried and sentenced". "The top leader of Junts was the one who said that the process was over," he stressed.

"Now it depends on what one wants to say. If one wants to say that it has disappeared, of course not, but if one wants to say that the unilateral paths have been abandoned as useless and harmful for the independence movement itself and for Catalonia itself, of course Yeah.

In this key, on the dialogue table between the central and Catalan governments, the minister has asserted that it has not finished because "the dialogue has not finished". "I say it a bit flat-footed", he has admitted, at the same time that he has explained that when this table is called it is to "certify an agreement that has been reached".

"At the moment there are no significant agreements to bring to the table and, therefore, the table does not meet. This partly has to do with the fact that the approach that is sometimes made from the independence movement and that they maintain is to reach an agreement there is no agreement on one thing, which is the referendum", the minister added.

On the possibility of holding a consultation, he has stressed that a self-determination referendum is "impossible and will not be held." He then stressed that the Constitution establishes what can be a referendum and who can call it: "What happens is that I do not make a temporary forecast that allows that to fit in."

"The independence movement is in another," emphasized the minister, who says that in the meantime it is necessary to be clear on this issue and not give loopholes to interpretation. "It is not a calendar problem, it is a problem of political will and, at this time and for as long as one can reasonably speculate, there will be no referendum," he concluded.
